DAILY IMAGE
This is a picture of one of the 8 projects we do in engineering design. It is a wooden baseball bat with one other object of your choice. this specific batwas created by Cam Dupre last year. It came out very well but because of the type of wood used, overnight the bat cracked right down the middle. the failure was the bat. when was the night after created. where was right down the middle of the barrel. who was the type of wood and how was it cracked down the barrel. this is a good example of something that could have been success but turned into failure.
this is an image of success. this is another one of the 8 projects that we will do in engineering and design. what we have to do is make an instrument that plays a beautiful sound. the test of a beautiful sound is determined by Mr. Ramos. this is success because it played a beautiful sound. its also a success because it is very well designed and turned out looking very nice and neat.
this is a Ryobi mini bandsaw. this is a very handy tool in the engineering part of our class. it has and adjustment piece so it can cut larger and smaller objects. it has small teeth but they are pretty hungry. it has a table that you put the object you are cutting on and you can loosen the knob to adjust the angle of the cut. after cutting the piece of wood you are to take the other piece and hit the cut wood out of the way so you can safely grab it. safety glasses are always needed when using this machine.
this is a Rigid bandsaw blade. it comes in a package in a 12 inch circle and once you open it and drop it, the blade opens up into the full size blade. this blade has a 6 TPI which means 6 teeth per inch. the blades total length is 93.5 inches. this blade is a true raider, it is hungry.
These are metal rods that Mr. Ramos gave us to turn into coils. we had to take a wooden pole, tighten it into a clamp and wrap the rod around it as tight as possible to make the best coil. the group who made the best coil would get 20 extra credit points. with 3 seconds left in the class it came down to two coils and with one second left I came in second place.
these are drill bits used for drilling holes in objects. in our first project, which was creating a very big pencil. we had to use a drill bit to drill a hole in one end so we could put the nail in as a substitute for the lead of a pencil. drill bits can come in handy in a lot of engineering situations. drill bits vary in size and vary in length for specific holes and depth. if they come in a package of drill bits they will usually give you the size of each making it easier to choose from.
this is a picture of failure.
who: the flip flop company
what: the flip flop
when: walking in school
where: the part that holds your foot in
how: ripped out of the bottom
we used liquid drill glue to glue it back in place and used the old school heat gun to speed up the process of drying. once done we tested it by pulling on it to see if it was durable. it was so we turned a failure into success with out engineering and design skills.
( you were giving me 10 extra cred points for this but I never got them)

this is an Image of a student following rules wearing his safety glasses. safety glasses are important because at any moment of using machines something could break off and go into your eye. with safety glasses on there is no chance of that happening.
this is the saw stop blade on the new table saw in our room. this blade is very hungry. the true true raider of the classroom. this thing is hungry for more then 3 meals. it is hungry all day and night. that's why its important to be extra careful with this table saw because it is a dangerous tool. it is easy to use correctly but just as easy to use incorrectly and hurt yourself. this is used for accurately cutting wood and will mainly be used for our super bridge project.
this is the test of the true raiders in the classroom. it is the safety exam. it was 10 questions, worth 100 points and is 1/3 of our 1st term grade. it was 10 questions based on stuff to do with the safety of yourself, others and machines in the classroom. it was also about Mr. Ramos's 10 rules of the classroom. this was an easy 100 points if you paid attention in class and did what you were suppose to do.
